Know the fact about diabetes

Key facts
- More than 220 million people worldwide have diabetes.
- An estimated 3.4 million people are losing their life from consequences of high blood sugar each year.
- More than 80% of diabetes deaths occur in low and middle-income countries.
- WHO projects that diabetes death will double between 2005 and 2030.
- Healthy diet, regular physical activity, maintaining a normal body weight and avoiding tobacco use can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.

What are common consequences of diabetes?
Over time, diabetes can damage the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves.
Diabetes increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. 50% of people with diabetes die of cardiovascular disease (primarily heart disease and stroke).
Combined with reduced blood flow, neuropathy in the feet increases the chance of foot ulcers and eventual limb amputation.
Diabetic retinopathy is an important cause of blindness, and occurs as a result of long-term accumulated damage to the small blood vessels in the retina. After 15 years of diabetes, approximately 2% of people become blind, and about 10% develop severe visual impairment.
Diabetes is among the leading causes of kidney failure. 10-20% of people with diabetes die of kidney failure.
Diabetic neuropathy is damage to the nerves as a result of diabetes, and affects up to 50% of people with diabetes. Although many different problems can occur as a result of diabetic neuropathy, common symptoms are tingling, pain, numbness, or weakness in the feet and hands.
The overall risk of dying among people with diabetes is at least double the risk of their peers without diabetes.

Effects of PPk Supplemented Soft Bun on Blood Glucose Level in Healthy Adults


A team of researcher has conducted a research on our product, Polypeptide-k supplemented soft roll manufactured by our partner, Hiestand.



The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Polypeptide-k (PPk) supplemented soft rolls on the blood glucose level as compared to controlled soft roll alone. Total of 18 healthy individuals were chosen to participate in this study.


Healthy individuals were fasted overnight and their blood was taken at baseline (0 min) before consumption of control soft roll, and at 0, 30, 90, 150 and 210 min. Glucose level was then determined.

This procedure was repeated with PPk supplemented soft roll on the same individuals the next day. PPk supplemented soft roll showed significant decrement (p<0.05) in glucose level when compared to control soft roll at 90, 150 and 210 min. Blood glucose level with PPk supplemented soft roll requires statistically significant lesser time,110 min, to drop to baseline glucose level as compared to control soft roll, which requires 190 min.

Blood glucose level with PPk supplemented soft roll further dropped to -0.9 mmol/L after 210 min while for control soft roll, blood glucose level only dropped slightly to -0.2 mmol/L.

In conclusion, PPk supplemented soft roll caused enhanced reduction in blood glucose level as compared to control soft roll in healthy adults.

Medication thru' Nutrition launching event

“Medication Thru Nutrition - Polypeptide-k (PPktm) in Functional Foods” launching event was a great success.
The event was launched by Datuk Dr.Sharifah Zarah bt Syed Ahmad, Deputy General Secretary (Policy) Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation on behalf of Y.B Datuk Hj.Fadillah B.Hj.Yusof, Deputy Minister of Science,Technology & innovation and took place at Auditorium 4, Technology Park Malaysia on 29 June 2011.




This event creates awareness on the existence of PPktm among society as many of them are still unaware about its goodness. In the meantime, more functional foods supplemented with PPktm produced and practice “Medication thru Nutrition” as a way of healthy lifestyle.

The discovery of this PPk is a great biotechnology breakthrough, developed and incorporated into functional foods. Through innovations, we have successfully expanded the application of PPktm into functional foods.

Medication thru Nutrition

We are proud to inform that we will organize a ceremony to introduce “Medication Thru Nutrition - Polypeptide-ktm, (PPktm) in Functional Foods” on 29 June 2011.
The ceremony will be launched by Y.B Datuk Hj. Fadillah B. Hj. Yusof Deputy Minister of Science, Techhnology & Innovation. It will take place at Auditorium Enterprise 4, Technology Park, Bukit Jalil, from 9:00am till 12:00pm.

As explained in previous posts, the most special feature about PPktm is, it consists of 18 amino acids in ONE single molecule. The properties of PPktm have proven to be very effective in blood glucose regulation, activation of inactive insulin and rejuvenation of the pancreas.

The discovery of this promising plant protein can be developed and incorporated into functional foods. Through innovations, we have successfully expanded the application of PPktm into functional food.

Our partner, Hiestand (M) Sdn Bhd, an international Swiss company saw the potential of PPktm and has introduced the PPktm ingredient into its bread products as a functional food for the normal and pre-diabetes market. Cambert, a sister company of F.E. Zuellig, came up with a new and trendy product called Sugard for the diabetes and pre-diabetes using sachets. Everprosper Food Industries Sdn Bhd came up with two range of organic noodles; Organic Spirulina Noodle with PPktm and Organic Atta Noodle with PPktm. We also have few more products to be released into the market soon, such as coffee and yogurt supplemented with PPktm.

Through this ceremony, we hope to create awareness for the existence of PPktm among society as many of them are still unaware about PPktm. In the meantime, we hope to create more functional foods supplemented with PPktm and practice “Medication thru Nutrition” as a way of healthy lifestyle.

Polypeptide-k™

This one of a kind storage protein is extracted from the seed of the bitter gourd. It took 35 years of initial research until discovery then another 10 years for purification and refinement in the extraction process. After all this extensive time and knowledge spent on the matter, we have been able to separate this single molecule known as Polypeptide-k™ from the seeds which has proven to be very effective in blood glucose regulation, rejuvenation of the beta cells of the pancreas and also to inhibit glycation, a process believed to be responsible for much of the side effects of diabetes. We are also certain that there is more to be done with this molecule as it seems to show more interesting and beneficial things to the health as we dig deeper into what it really is capable of.


For starters, PPk™ consists of 18 amino acids whereas human insulin consists of 23 amino acids. Figures shows  Polypeptide-k and human insulin, when compared the similarities of these 2 protein sequences are 33.3%. For a natural plant protein structure to achieve similar effect like a human protein structure, the homogeneity level would be approximately at 18%. Long term consumption of Ppk has reduced complications associated with diabetes such as diabetic retinopathy and diabetic neuropathy. For some of our consumers, they have been taken off the painful insulin shots and also the prescription drugs. Now, they are only on minimum dosage of PPk with no side effects and a well maintained glucose level.


The other fact that sets PPk apart from any other herbal remedy is the patented (in 93 countries) extraction process which makes us different from the ground and tablet type of herbal remedy or medication for diabetes.
We were able to harvest the single molecule responsible for the insulin like activity that results from the consumption of bitter gourd or bitter gourd seeds. "Why not just consume bitter gourd?", you may ask. The problem with consuming bitter gourd alone is that there are other harmful toxins present within the fruit and the plant. The initial introduction of PPk to the public, Diabegard which is basically PPk in the tablet form has survived the market for 10 years as a stand alone product with satisfying results for the consumers. 


Moving on,
PPk is also compatible as a food ingredient, arising from the fact that it consists of a single molecule. Over the years we have researched and collaborated with our functional food partners to come up with a range of products that complement the medicinal food market. Think food is medicine, medicine is food. The first functional food product was a soft roll bun infused with PPk which resulted from our collaboration with Hiestand, a Swiss Bakery.

Another new functional food product that resulted from our collaboration with a sister company of F.E. Zuellig, Cambert (M) is The Prime SuGard, which is Ppk complemented with nutritional food ingredients such as inulin and isomalt in sachets for pre diabetics, general health and blood sugar maintenance on the go. This product is fairly new and is waiting to be launched.








The next collaboration we made was with Dr. Kenny Ong from Well Again Healthcare and Everprosper Food Industries. Dr. Kenny has been treating his patients with PPk for a long time and he is truly supportive towards the idea of treating his patients through food. In fact he just recently informed us of 100 of his Type-2 Diabetic patients who were cured and taken of insulin shots through the consumption of PPk™ and functional foods containing PPk™. More in depth information is being compiled on that sample of 100 patients in order to take PPk™ to the next level.

Greetings


The purpose of this blog is to share information about Polypeptide-k (PPkand its functions in treating metabolic related diseases such as diabetes and obesity. 

We have discovered a natural plant protein from the seeds of bitter gourd (Momordica charantia) called Polypeptide-k (PPk™). This hypoglycaemic unique natural protein possessed insulin like properties and exhibit similar homology to the human insulin as it consists of 18 standard amino acids in a single molecule compared to human insulin which contains 23 standard amino acids. 

It took 45 years of research to discover PPk™ as the only sublingual medicine for diabetes which has shown no risk of hypoglycaemia as the protein, PPk regulates the blood glucose level to normal level.  We have this promising bioactive ingredient plant protein, which has shown positive effect in treating diabetes by rejuvenating pancreas (Beta-cells) and activating inactive insulin. 

PPk™ also has the potential to treat other metabolic diseases related to diabetes such as obesity and cardiovascular as well as curb metabolism issues which are global health issues that need to address.
